A Bad Casino Marker is a Bad Check — Not an Unpaid Debt
Because of Nevada's laws making it tough for debtors to collect bad debts, the legislature recently declared that a casino marker may be treated as a check, rather than a debt. Like writing a bad check, if you do not have money in your account to cover the amount of the marker, the casino may prosecute. Under current Nevada law, a bad check or unpaid casino marker in excess of $250 may be filed as a felony charge.
